A four chambered heart
Four Chambers is the experimental porn project of performer and filmmaker Vex Ashley and her partner, who remains unnamed. At Four Chambers, porn and art blur together into a celebration of the senses that is at times intoxicating, at times unsettling. Vex not only holds her films to high aesthetic standards, but also commits to the greatest possible transparency in her work. She rejects terms like “ethical porn” or “feminist porn” for her creations, as she considers them too subjective and often used merely as marketing labels. With her films, Vex succeeds in merging imagery, music, and bodies into an erotic total work of art that satisfies more than just sexual desire.
Working Conditions
On Set
Vex places great importance on transparency and fairness at work. Performers on set are provided with food and barrier protection products and receive above-average pay.
Payment
Four Chambers states the following about payment: „Performer pay is a priority for us. Porn performers take on the most risk in a society that unfairly stigmatises putting sex on screen. We have always paid a flat rate to all performers regardless of gender, physical characteristics, “fame”, experience or acts taking place. The rate for a full scene is currently $1200 per shoot.“
In addition to this fee, performers can also earn money through affiliate income by promoting the site.
Safer Sex
(STI prevention / testing; access to safer sex supplies)
According to Vex, all performers can communicate their preferences regarding barrier protection (condoms, dental dams, etc.). Presenting up-to-date STI tests (no older than 2 weeks) on the day of the shoot is mandatory. This applies even to performers who regularly have sex with each other outside the shoot. The test results are available for all performers to view before filming begins.

According to the producer, all positions and sexual acts are agreed upon with the performers in advance. There is no “orgasm requirement” during filming, whether real or simulated, unless it has been consensually agreed upon with the performers. A particularly positive aspect is that performers have the opportunity to view the film before its release. If they are unhappy with specific clips or shots, those are replaced or adjusted.
